I have been fascinated by woodpeckers (Red Headed in particular) for as long as I can remember. So when I took up photography, it is no surprise that this guy was at the top of my list of birds I wanted to photograph. The problem, at least for me, has been that they are extremely shy, and fly away any time I try to approach them. Well I finally got my shot last weekend while fishing on the Red River. Such a beautiful bird leaves me in awe of what God has created for us to enjoy.
